THE INSPIRATION
The inspiration behind Play2Give is a charity champ himself, and he's only 20 - Andrew Baker!
Andrew from Didcot has been an inspirational ambassador for the new Oxford Children's Hospital ever since he received life-saving surgery in 2001 to have a brain tumour removed.
Andrew, a former St Birinus School Didcot pupil, has raised over £16,000 for CHOx since he began fund-raising when the campaign to raise £15m for the charity launched in 2002. He has also raised hundreds of pounds for other charities locally since setting up Play2Give last year, and will have raised well over £17,000 by the end of this year. In total he's raised £17,900 for many charities to date.
Andrew has been awarded a Local Hero by Fox FM, nominated in Britain's Most Inspiring Fundraiser award run by The Sun newspaper and a runner-up in the 2007 Deutsche Bank Spotlight Awards, rewarded by Ben Shephard of GMTV.
"Andrew has been extremely supportive of the children's hospital and has inspired people to raise money. We're so grateful for his hard work and dedication. We continue to be amazed at Andrew's ongoing efforts" - Penny Hambridge, Children's Development Officer, CHOX.
